Put your charger in a place where you are comfortable using distracting apps, and away from places where you want fewer interruptions. For many people that means a desk or shelf instead of the bed or dinner table.
Choose the behavior before the place
Ask where you want to be when you check social apps or entertainment. Do you want a short session at a desk? A check-in after work? Choose a location that fits that plan and has a safe, convenient outlet.
The charger is a cue, not a magic solution. Its value comes from the boundary you attach to it.
Protect one place first
If your bed is where scrolling stretches longest, move the charger away from it. If dinner is the problem, charge outside the dining area. Start with one location so you can tell whether the change helps.
Keep any accessibility, safety, or communication needs in mind. Test that your alarm and important alerts still work from the new location.
Use the location with Unplug Me
Unplug Me makes plugging in the step that unlocks distracting apps for a timed session. Unplugging, or reaching the end of the timer, locks them again. This makes charger placement part of the app’s behavior, not just a reminder on the wall.
You can keep calls and texts available while the apps you chose to block remain locked. Review the setup before relying on it away from home.
Notice whether the boundary is real
If you carry a charger everywhere or have one beside every seat, plugging in may be too easy to create a meaningful pause. You can still use the timer, but consider one designated charging spot for discretionary apps.
If you need emergency access, check the emergency unlock options in your installed version. A useful boundary should account for real exceptions.
